2012 Audition Info

Hammerkatz NYU Wants YOU!

·      Do you love writing and performing sketch comedy?

·      Do you want to meet new people?

·      Do you just love bits???

Then you should audition for Hammerkatz, NYU’s premiere sketch comedy group!

How do I audition? Everyone in Hammerkatz joins as a writer and performer, so to be eligible you must complete both parts of the audition.

Part 1, Performance Audition

Attend one of our Performance Auditions.

·         Thursday, September 6^th at 8:30pm at Kimmel 802

·         Friday, September 7^th at 8:30pm at Kimmel 802

·         Saturday, September 8^th at 2pm at Kimmel 802

Part 2, Writing Sample

Email a writing sample to hammerkatznyu@gmail.com by 9pm on September 8^th! What’s can be in a writing sample? Below are some suggestions. You only need to include one of these examples, but include more if you think that will better represent you as a writer and what you think is funny. 

·         Sketches! One or a few, 1-5 pages each.

·         A short/funny play or script! No more than 7 pages.

·         A list of ideas for sketches!

Other things you should know about Auditions:

·         Performance auditions can take a while so be prepared to stay a couple of hours. Aka bring a book or sweet convo skills.

·         We provide you with scripts at our performance auditions, which you will perform in groups. No preparation necessary and no memorization required!

·         Don’t sweat having a super fancy or extensive writing sample, we just want to see what you think is funny!
